Dear Sir/Madam,

This e-mail is being sent to you on behalf of the LOBSTER project
(IST-004336, FP6 Programme).

The main goal of the LOBSTER project is to deploy an advanced pilot
European Internet traffic monitoring infrastructure based on passive
monitoring sensors at speeds from 1 Gbps possibly up to 10 Gbps.

The LOBSTER project is carrying out a study to get information about
passive network monitoring in various organizations as well as to collect
the needs and expectations of potential LOBSTER users. Another oncoming
action of the project is to find participants who will cooperate with the
project in the pilot phase of deploying the new European infrastructure
for accurate passive monitoring.

We prepared a short on-line questionnaire which can be found using this

Its printable version, convenient for overviewing all questions, is

We would much appreciate if you could take the necessary time to complete
the on-line questionnaire before 28 February 2005. It would significantly
contribute to our research. Furthermore, your organization would benefit
as well, since by taking part in the LOBSTER project, you would get the
opportunity to become familiar with the research issues of the project,
and this would further enhance your organization's understanding of
critical research issues, such as traffic monitoring.

The results of the study will be used by the LOBSTER project and the
report will be available on-line. We promise not to give or sell any
individual data to any third party.
